A cat 5 cable connects to the router from the modem and you just throw another cat 5 to the router and connect it to whatever PC or gaming console needs it. The 360 plays fine online and the computers experience no lag while all are using the internet. Everything hooked up fine. This is my first time using a router. A wired router is much more convenient than having to reset the router every time you change the connection from PC to xbox360. So we got a wired router. I didn't like idea of putting our internet signal into the air even though there are ways of securing it. One is going to my computer, another computer bridged with a 75' cable and an xbox360 also bridged with a 75' cable.
It's a good solid and reliable device. I've had zero problems with it. I am a complete technical newbie when it comes to computer networking. And I got this router not long ago and found that its setup was a breeze.
I would definitely recommend this product. I like this little guy, small and fast, I use it to link my directv dvr, roku, and 2 computers and never lets me down.
my pc and ps3 are next to each other therefore i didn't need a wireless option. cheap, reliable, and easy to set-up.
*note* don't worry about the blinking red light. worth every penny.
this wired router works great with a very low price. i recommend this product highly.
it means it's working. didn't have to do anything just plug and play.
i had a linksys wireless router and the thing kept disconnecting on me especially when i was gaming online with my ps3 so i got rid of it.at first i was hesitant to purchase this router because of its cheap price tag and not knowing too much about this company, but i'm very glad i bought it.
I'm not sure what came on it's disk, as I never looked at it.The router connects my DSL to a Windows XP computer, UNIX computer, printer, Vista Laptop, and an ATA (for VoIP telephone service using my existing phones). Since I'm taking a chance, and (wireless) features will continue to go up while prices drop, I decided to get only what I needed now. (I have a mix of static and dynamic devices on my network, it was easier to change the routers settings than the devices. It solved all my problems.
My wired Linksys BEFSR41 router died after a few years of use. How do I connect 5 devices into 4 ports. I changed the routers address and the DHCP range). I've been using my older DLink 804, and having various problems.
I then went and adjusted the advanced settings. I have a Linksys SD205 5-port switch. All the routers I looked at had mostly good reviews with bad ones mixed in too. (and at under $20, the risk was minimal for this Trendnet unit).I plugged it in, typed in it's web address and answered the quick start questions.
